San Diego Downtown Condo Market Not Red hot but still sizzling
When I drive downtown, I am always amazed at how many giant condo and apartment buildings are still going up everywhere. Everywhere you look, it seems there is a crane or construction crew laboring away.
It amazes me that people are still building even in this housing economy where supply is greater than 12 months. What the skeptics and naysayers fail to realize, is that this is the best city on the west coast to live downtown in. Sure, San Fran has its spots, likewise does LA, Portland, and Seattle. Lets face it though, San Diego downtown with its awesome year long weather, its many restaurants, shops, entertainments spots and nightlife has become the coolest city on the west coast of america.
Like always with supply and demand, a large inventory drops prices, but its always the nicest inventory that goes first even in a world of falling prices. If you went down to San Diego Ford, and looked at all the cars and everything was market down 50%. Which would you try to buy, the Escort, or the Mustang GT? Likewise, everyone wants a gorgeous downtown San Diego Condo, minutes walk away from Petco Park, Horton Plaza, The San Diego Convention Center, and the many night spots on the strip.
My advice? Buy now, buy tomorrow, and buy next week. The price of downtown San Diego Real Estate, especially downtown condos will only rise into the future.
